Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson remains a major fitness doubt for Monday night’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates.
The England international has played no part in training at Melwood this week since limping out of the Reds’ 1-0 win over Bournemouth at Anfield with a foot injury.
Henderson, who had taken painkillers in a bid to get him through Monday’s first home game of the season, was forced off early in the second half.
The 25-year-old hasn’t broken a bone but has an ongoing issue with the ball of his foot which has been causing him a great deal of discomfort.
Henderson now faces a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of the crunch trip to the capital.

Medical staff retain hope he will respond positively to further treatment over the coming days but unless there is a significant improvement then Henderson won’t be risked.
Emre Can came off the bench to replace him against Bournemouth and the Germany Under-21s midfielder is in line to make his first start of the campaign if Henderson is ruled out.
Henderson’s absence would also mean the armband is passed to vice-captain James Milner.
