Real Madrid transfer latest: James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos in, Di Maria, Khedira and Morata out?
Out: Alvaro Morata
Both Arsenal and Tottenham were regularly linked with Madrid academy product Morata, who is a competent young centre forward desperate for regular playing time. In the end, it looks like Juventus have won the race, however. According to Marca, the Old Lady are willing to invest €22m, but Real Madrid have insisted on including a €30m buyback clause in the deal.
In: Toni Kroos
After a year of deliberating for Toni Kroos, the Bayern man has finally decided to leave the Allianz Arena. Following his World Cup final win, the player confirmed that the Santiago Bernabeu will be his home from this summer onwards, with a €25m fee said to be agreed. Reports claim Barcelona – the German's first choice – turned down the midfielder. Will they live to regret it?
Out: Sami Khedira
The arrival of Kroos all but guarantees the exit of his international team mate Sami Khedira. The all-round midfielder has long been an Arsenal target, and it looks like the Gunners will get their man, with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser saying they have offered €30m for his services.
Out: Angel Di Maria
Despite proving pivotal in Madrid’s cup and Champions League double, and despite producing a more than acceptable World Cup showing, it’s thought that Angel di Maria still isn’t considered an indispensable player by Real Madrid. Reports say the Argentine has finally had enough, and PSG are prepared to put him out of his misery by offering a Financial Fair Play-defying €60m fee to Madrid.
In: James Rodriguez
Probably the stand-out player of the World Cup (despite what FIFA may tell you), James Rodriguez is one of the biggest stars of the summer, and inevitably, that means Real Madrid are interested. The Colombian recently fuelled speculation about a move to the Spanish giants by admitting he would love to join them. Convincing Monaco, who evidently have no need to sell, is a different question entirely.
